a new program for Junior Handlers

“Meet the Professionals” is a new program created to help bridge the gap between top professional dog handlers and junior handlers aspiring to become pros. The program provides an opportunity for juniors to get to know handlers on a more personal level, learn unique training tips and methods, and create an open forum for juniors to access the expertise of top professionals nationwide.

This hour-long webinar series will be offered on the first Tuesday of every month from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. EST. The fee for the program is $25.00. I will facilitate the program beginning with a brief introduction about myself, followed by my own questions for the featured professional, finishing with live questions from the participating juniors.

I was first inspired to create this program when I witnessed Gabrielle, my 12 year-old daughter, feeling sad and depressed because she couldn’t do what she loved, basketball. This was due to the forced isolation mandated by Covid-19. It made me wonder about all the kids in our sport who must miss doing their favorite activity – showing dogs. Although I can’t make dog shows happen, I can help bring a sense of connection to these kids during challenging times.

Professional Dog Handler and Junior Showmanship Judge

“Dogs have been in my life as long as I can remember! I acquired my first dog, a Labrador retriever at age 14, and qualified for my first Westminster Dog Show that same year. I have piloted several different breeds to multiple national specialty wins, best in shows and breed wins at the Westminster Dog Show. I am an active member of the AKC Registered Handlers Program, and in 2015 was awarded the RHP Handler of the Year. I am an AKC approved junior showmanship judge. The first boxers I ever met were from Salgray Kennels. I live with my husband in Oxford, CT, and occasionally have a litter of Kerry Blue Terriers and Akita’s. Oh, I live with Lola Jean, my little Shih-Tzu! I look forward to answering your questions and thank you for having me.” ~ Toni Conti

Meet the Professional is a monthly webinar facilitated by Kelly Lyn Marquis and WinAll Coaching LLC. It features top dog show professional handlers and is held on the first Tuesday of every month from 7:00 to 8:00p.m. EST via Zoom. The purpose of this program is to bridge the gap between professional dog show handlers and junior handlers who aspire to become pros. Junior handlers are typically between 9 and 18 years old.
